Juan Carlos Bermudez is a Partner who focuses his practice on Business & Commercial Transactions, Real Estate and Land Use, Public Policy, Procurement and Governmental Affairs and Civil Litigation.  Mr. Bermudez has practiced law for 30 plus years in South Florida and throughout his career he has represented large, mid-size and start up business entities along with individuals.

Mr. Bermudez has dedicated much of his career to civic involvement in the Miami area.  In July 2003, he was elected the first mayor of the new City of Doral, serving until 2012.  Mr. Bermudez was re-elected Mayor of the City of Doral in 2016.

During Mayor Bermudez’s terms, the new city’s infrastructure was created including the creation of the city’s award-winning Finance and Parks Departments.  Under his leadership, the City added over 121 acres of playgrounds, ballfields and recreational facilities.

During Mayor Bermudez’s terms, the City has received numerous national accolades including being chosen the Best City for Business Start Ups by Business Week, named #2 of America’s Top 25 Towns to Live Well In for its cultural amenities, pro-business environment and highly educated workforce by Forbes.com, ranked the 51st best in Top 100 Places to Live and Launch a Business in the United States by CNNMoney.com and, most recently in 2018, named by MONEY Magazine as the 22nd best place to live and work in the United States.

Mr. Bermudez serves as a Board member of the Miami-Dade County League of Cities, Florida League of Mayors and The United States Conference of Mayors. His fellow elected officials selected Mr. Bermudez as the President of the Miami-Dade County League of Cities in 2010-2011. Additionally, Mayor Bermudez serves on the Beacon Council Board, the Miami Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) Board. Mr. Bermudez received the Good Government Award from The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce in 2009.

Mr. Bermudez graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his law degree (juris doctorate) from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He is member of the Florida Bar and other legal associations.

In his free time, Mr. Bermudez enjoys spending time with his wife of over 25 years and their three daughters.  He is an avid reader and recreational basketball player.
